Biography
Dr. Halleluyah Oluwatobi Aworinde is a Harnessing Talent (HANT) Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Department of Information Technology, Durban University of Technology, South Africa. He holds a PhD in Computer Science from Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Nigeria, and has built a distinguished academic career that bridges research, teaching, and technology leadership. Until 2025, he served as the 5th Director of Digital Services (ICT) at Bowen University, Nigeria, where he spearheaded digital transformation initiatives that modernized teaching, research, and administrative processes. He is a member of the Nigerian Young Academy (NYA).
His research stands in the intersection of cognitive and persuasive computing, with applications in healthcare, agriculture, education, and security systems. He has published extensively in high-impact, Scopus- and Web of Science-indexed journals and contributed to globally recognized book chapters with Elsevier, Taylor & Francis, CRC Press, and IGI Global.
Dr. Aworinde is also a recipient of prestigious fellowships and awards, including the 8th Heidelberg Laureate Forum (Germany), ICTP Visiting Research Fellowship (Italy), and the Klaus Tschira Stiftung Alumnode Project Fund (Germany). His academic excellence has been recognized with Best Paper and Poster Prizes at international conferences, including the Deep Learning Indaba and IIT Bhilai's ISMS conference.
A passionate advocate for capacity building and inclusion in STEM, he has led training programs and mentorship initiatives with organizations such as AI+ Campus, Mendeley, Data Science Africa, and Deep Learning Indaba. He has also played an active role in shaping Nigeria's National Artificial Intelligence Policy through NITDA.
Internationally, Dr. Aworinde has delivered invited talks and workshops across Europe, North America, East Africa, and South Africa, including contributions at The Alan Turing Institute (UK), Dalhousie University (Canada), and ICTP Trieste (Italy). His cross-border collaborations exemplify science diplomacy, advancing Africa's voice in global AI and digital innovation.
Dr. Aworinde continues to push the frontiers of research while ensuring practical societal impact. His vision combines cutting-edge research with inclusive policy advocacy and international collaboration, making him a leading voice in Africa's growing AI and digital transformation landscape.
